Spring 2024 Activities Summary

Spring 2024 was a very dynamic season for the Délice Network, with several significant activities showcasing our commitment to culinary excellence and cultural exchange. Here below you will find a look at the key events that kept us engaged and connected:

 

1. Puebla Study Tour (May 24-27, 2024)
In May, the Délice Network hosted a Study Tour in Puebla, Mexico. Delegates from 5 member cities (Helsinki, Tucson, Lyon HQ, San Antonio and Stavanger) gathered to explore Puebla's rich culinary heritage and learn about its vibrant food scene. The tour provided interesting perspectives of the city's culinary traditions and inspiring examples on how Puebla uses gastronomy to promote tourism.

2. General Assembly in Mérida and New Brand Launch  (May 27-31, 2024)
The Network annual General Assembly took place this year in Mérida, Mexico, where we also launched our new brand, "The Food Capitals by Délice Network" in front of local journalists.
Further than discussing about annual internal issues, members also reflected on the topic of tradition, heritage and origins, with a glance at future and innovation. Representatives from 11 member cities (Cali, Tucson, Montreal, Helsinki, Chicago, Puebla, Busan, Lyon HQ, Stavanger, San Antonio and Merida itself) participated in discussions and activities centred around our shared culinary heritage.

3. Puebla at Lyon Street Food Festival (June 13-16, 2024)
In June, the city of Puebla was the international host at the Lyon Street Food Festival. This event, attended by 52,000 visitors, was an excellent platform for Puebla to showcase its amazing food and vibrant culture. The festival highlighted the city's unique culinary offerings and strengthened cultural ties between the participating cities.

4. Stavanger Study Tour (June 26-28, 2024)
From June 26 to 28, 2024, Stavanger hosted a Study Tour with members from 5 cities (Helsinki, Montreal, Malmö, Tartu and Lyon). This tour was specially dedicated to organizers of cities’ culinary big public events, as it focussed on Gladmat, Scandinavia's leading food festival. The tour was also the occasion to feature two young chefs from Malmö and Tartu, who led workshops on various culinary themes, including #nowaste.
Meanwhile, guests participated in inspring activities, discussions, and field visits and had the chance to network and exchange knowledge.

These activities highlight the Délice Network's dedication to promoting culinary excellence and fostering international cooperation. By bringing together diverse cities and cultures, we continue to celebrate and innovate in the world of food.
