All Member Cities are invited to attend the General Assembly where the ExCom and HQ will present about past and future activities. This is the time for the members to vote on the 2024 Activity and Financial Reports.
This session will also include working group moments for members to discuss specific topics and projects and brainstorm together on future activities for the network.
The City of Lyon will present its various policies and projects related to food and gastronomy that have been undertaken over the last few years.
Elected representatives from cities around the world will share their diverse perspectives and discuss their own food policies in alignment with key themes of the AGM. Speakers will explore the critical role of food security, emphasizing the interdependence between urban and rural areas in building resilient food systems.
The discussion will also address social justice through food, focusing on strategies to ensure access to healthy, affordable, and environmentally responsible food for all. Insights from the SchoolFood4Change project will highlight the importance of integrating food education into schools, shaping healthier eating habits for future generations. These examples and exchanges will inspire collaborative solutions for more equitable and climate-conscious urban food policies.

City representatives will discuss the future of gastronomy in cities and its role in promoting culture and traditions to maintain cities’ attractiveness while answering to today’s ecological and social challenges at the local and global level.
In this interactive setting, panelists and audience members sit around a circle and are actively invited to contribute to the discussion on the future of food festivals. Panelists from various existing food festivals will share insights into the possibilities and challenges of organizing food festivals while considering sustainability, local culture and global tourism.

Get a taste for Lyon’s gastronomy with this historical food tour taking you through the city’s Old Town while making stops at various key locations. The tour will be followed by a sit-down lunch.

Through inspiring and interactive pitches and presentations, members will share and exchange not only about best practices of innovative projects and initiatives – but also about “flops” and lessons learnt!

The Halle Agriculturelle in La Duchère, Lyon (an eco-neighbourhood), is a dynamic space dedicated to urban agriculture, sustainable food, and community engagement. This experimental initiative (2023–2027) features a 600m² urban micro-farm managed by Arcencielfrance, offering fresh produce, educational programs, and vocational training and job reintegration for young people. It also hosts a weekly solidarity market in partnership with VRAC Lyon Métropole, providing high-quality, locally sourced products at accessible prices. The Halle Agriculturelle aims to foster food democracy, environmental awareness, and cultural exchange within the neighbourhood.
"Une Faim d'Apprendre" is a Lyon-based application restaurant dedicated to social inclusion and professional reintegration through the culinary arts. Founded by chefs Dominic Moreaud and Christian Lavault, both members of the esteemed Toques Blanches Lyonnaises, the establishment provides comprehensive training programs in various restaurant professions, including cooking, food service, and hospitality management. These programs are designed to support individuals facing challenges such as unemployment, disability, or social marginalization, equipping them with the skills and certifications needed to secure employment in the hospitality industry.
A family business started in 1897, Voisin is today an unmissable master chocolatier of Lyon with their city-center factory and worldwide shops. While the chocolate production is still hand-made and ancestral, the Voisin family has decided to commit to more sustainable working practices. Following a tour of the factory, learn all about their engagement through a discussion with the owner.
Researchers studying the links between food, nutrition and health will share about their latest findings while leading a visit through the centre’s BioBank (IBB), one of the largest, most varied and richest International collections of samples in the world. More details coming soon…
